Obituary of Etta Wanitta Lucas
Etta Wanitta Lucas, 85, of Fairmont, passed away on Friday, June 8, 2018 at her residence. She was born September 19, 1932 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late Glen and Grace Welch Reese. She was preceded in death by her husband James Lucas.
Mrs. Lucas was a member of the Life United Methodist Church. She retired from Fairmont State University dining hall where she served as a cook for over 33 years.
She is survived by her son James “Bub” Lucas, her daughters: Brenda and her husband Brent Biro, and Jane and her husband Rick Halpenny; her grandchildren: Krystal Biro, Andy Biro and his wife Stacie, Nicky Biro and his wife Amiee, Jimmy Halpenny and his wife Samantha, and Jonathon Halpenny and his girlfriend Kelsey Corwin; and her great grandchildren: Carter Biro, Ellie Biro, and Miles Halpenny. She is also survived by her sisters, Ruth Varney and Sue Moorehead.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Roger Lucas, her son Robert “Bob” Lucas, as well as her infant grandson, Joey Biro, her sister, Janet Reese, and her brother-in-law, Tom Varney.
The family would like to thank WV Caring Hospice as well as her special friends, Nancy Watts, Joni Opyoke, and Dr. Katragadda for their love and compassion.
Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont on Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday, June 11, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Monday, June 11 at 11 a.m. with Reverend Larry Buckland officiating.
