Obituary of John Grandville Nussear

John Grandville Nussear, 90, of Fairmont, passed away on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center.  He was born February 16, 1928 in Hagerstown, MD, a son of the late Henry Arthur Nussear Sr. and his wife Hilda June Nolly Nussear.  He is survived by his wife, Mary J. Gerken Nussear.

Mr. Nussear was a 1945 graduate of East Fairmont High School, a 1950 graduate of Fairmont State College with a bachelors degree in physics, a 1951 graduate of West Virginia University with his masters degree, and then completed the business management program in 1962 from Fairleigh Dickinson University.  He was a veteran of the United States Army, having served during World War II as Sargeant and tank commander.  Mr. Nussear traveled the world with his occupation.  He served as an engineer, physicist, and director of Solid State Manufacturing activities for R.C.A. Corporation in Brazil and Malaysia, he then worked with General Instruments Corporation as a plant manager, and later retired as a consultant for the Thomas Group.  John enjoyed golfing and was an avid reader.  He had played softball, loved his pets, followed all sports, but especially WVU sports, and collected model trains.

In addition to his wife, John is survived by his daughter Stephanie and her husband Charles Back of Venice, CA, step-sons: Mark and his wife Becky Williamson of Fremont, CA, Brian Williamson and his companion Greta Efram of Jacksonville, FL, step-daughters: Paulette and her husband Scott Klingensmith of Fairmont, and Renee Stevens of Fairmont, his sister, Gertrude Luria of Marietta, GA, 11 grandchildren, including Scott and his wife Belinda Blauvelt of Fairmont who were caregivers for Mr. Nussear,  and 10 great grandchildren,

In addition to his parents, John is preceded in death by his first wife, Estelle M. Nussear, his step mother, Grace Nussear, brothers, Henry Nussear and Harry Kelly, and his sister Rita May Nussear

Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Chapel, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont on Tuesday, July 17,  2018 from 4PM until 8PM and on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 from 10AM until 11AM.  The funeral will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, July 18, 2018 at 11AM with the Reverend Judy Shaver officiating.  Interment will follow at the Mt.
