Obituary of Elaine Mae Tennant

Elaine Mae Tennant,82, of Pleasant Valley, passed away on Saturday, August 25, 2018 in her residence.  She was born June 9, 1936 in Daybrook, WV a daughter of the late Winifred R. “Sam” and Della S. Yost Moore.  She is survived by her husband Stanley B. Tennant.

Mrs. Tennant was a member of the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church.  She was a 1954 graduate of Clay-Battelle High School, and had worked in her younger years in the pajama factory in Waynesburg, PA.  Elaine enjoyed caring for young children which she did for many years within her home.  She liked quilting, working crossword puzzles, playing scratch off tickets, crocheting and knitting. Elaine loved visiting with her neighbors and spending time with her family and friends.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her children, Sheila and her husband Tom McGinnis, Rex and his wife Jacklyn Tennant, Nancy Tennant, and her estranged son, Charles Tennant, her brother Fred Moore, 10 grandchildren, several nieces and nephews.  She was “mom” and “grandma” to many in the community of Pleasant Valley.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Perry Moore and Carl Moore.

Friends and family may call the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont on Tuesday, August 28, 2018 from 6PM until 8 PM, and on Wednesday, August 29, 2018 from 2PM until 4PM and 6PM until 8PM.  Mrs. Tennant will lie in state at the Valley Chapel United Methodist Church, 1511 Pleasant Valley Road, Fairmont on Thursday August 30, 2018 from 1PM until 2PM. The funeral will be held in the church on Thursday, August 30, 2018 at 2PM with Rev. David Hall and Rev.
