Obituary of Don Reed Stoops
Don Reed Stoops, 70, of Fairmont, passed away on Thursday, September 6, 2018, at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. Don was born in Fairmont on August 30, 1948, the son of the late Howard Stoops and Davinna Jean Keener Stoops. He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Jane Kisner Stoops, whom he married on December 22, 1997.
In addition to his wife, Don is survived by two aunts, Janet Smith of Wheeling and Betty Keener of Fairmont; a brother-in-law, John Kisner and his wife Patty of Taylor County; special cousins, Greg Keener and his wife Donna of Constantia, NY and Allan Keener and his wife Lou Ann of Fairmont; special friends, Butch Kisner, Patty Thompson and Brian Toothman; his beloved dog, Shy; as well as numerous cousins and several nieces and nephews.
Don was Baptist by faith and worked as a teacher and then principal in Marion County. He served as the organist in various churches in Fairmont. He was a 1966 graduate of East Fairmont High School, a 1971 graduate of Alderson-Broaddus College and earned his Master’s Degree in Education at West Virginia University. Don was a member of the Rock Lake Club.
The family would like to thank the staff at Fairmont Regional Medical Center, Ruby Memorial Hospital, the Genesis Tygart Center and the Fairmont Dialysis Center.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Sunday, September 9, 2018, from 12 noon until 4 p.m. and from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Monday, September 10, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Monday, September 10, 2018, at 11 a.m. with Reverend D.D.
