Obituary of J C (Julia) Amos
J C (Julia) Amos, 65, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, September 26, 2018, at the Fairmont Health and Rehabilitation Center. J C was born on March 24, 1953 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late George M. Amos, Jr. and Elizabeth H. Cooke Amos.
J C is survived by a sister, Mary A. “Dede” Burnell, and her husband James D. Burnell of Fairmont; a niece, Terri L. Burnell, and her partner Jackie Desmarais of Boston, MA; a nephew, James D. Burnell, and his partner Jackie Li of Arlington, VA; several cousins and her dog, Mandy.
In addition to her parents, J C was preceded in death by her brother, George M. Amos III.
J C earned a BS Degree in Secondary Education and a BS Degree in Business-Accounting from Fairmont State University. She worked as Business Manager for the Marion County Rescue Squad and for Prickett’s Fort. After moving to Baltimore, MD, she earned her JD and LLM in Tax from the University of Baltimore Law School and practiced law in Maryland. Upon her return to Fairmont, she and her good friend Roger Curry started the law firm Curry Amos and Associates. She most recently practiced law as Country Club Law. J C was very interested in support of the Humane Society, worked with the National Chairman for Dalmatian Rescue in Baltimore, MD, and even prepared wills and donated her proceeds to the Humane Society. She enjoyed reading and playing bridge and was an active member of several bridge clubs and book clubs.

In accordance with J C’s wishes, her body will be cremated. A memorial service celebrating her life will take place at a later date.
