I worked for Bud at the Fairmont Field Club, starting as a caddie when I was 13, and worked in the pro shop until I graduated from college. Bud, Terri, and Sherri were like my second family. Bud was the best golf pro I have ever worked with and I still go back to the things he taught me when my swing is off! Those were some of the best times of my life! My thoughts and prayers are with Terri and Sherri, and the rest of the family. I know how close you all were.

The end of an era. Our condolences to Bud's family. He was a model and mentor to many PGA of America golf professionals, including myself. He will be missed but not forgotten. Bud was a very special man and we were very blessed to have had him in our lives. We will always remember all those Golf lessons and games at Canaan Resort. Two this very day when I play golf I hear Buds voice telling me that I needed to grip the club like I am holding a little bird...lightly. I also remember coming in from playing and he always wanted to know how you played and if I complained about not doing well he always said, “ have you been practicing.” And of course I hadn’t and he would reply,” well what do you expect”. Bud always was and will be “ A Canaan Classic”. Our deepest sympathy to all the family Dewey and Estelle Rice
