Obituary of Gregory "Shack" Shackelford

Gregory “Shack” Shackelford, born on December 21, 1953, to the late LuAmy and Ashford Shackelford from Bellview, passed away on Sunday, November 25, 2018, at his residence.

Everyone who knew “Shack” knows he loved motorcycles and retired from Patriot Coal after 33 years of service. Most of all, he loved being “Pappy”.

Shack is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Anita Shackelford; daughter, Amanda Moore and her fiancé Jamie Dillsworth of Barrackville; son, Jeremy Shackelford and his wife Erin of Fairmont; three grandchildren, Jailynn Straight, Patrick Moore Jr. and Madalynn Shackelford; mother-in-law, Katherine Snider of Mannington; five sisters-in-law, Cathy Schrader of Mannington, Debbie and Bobby Stevenski of Fairmont, Vicky and Eddie Barron of Idamay, Brenda and Wayne Griffith of Charleston and Heather and Michael Straight of Fairview; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Shack was preceded in death by a son, Wesley A. Shackelford; two brothers, Ronald Shackelford and David Shackelford; father-in-law, Billy Jo Snider; brother-in-law, Jeff Schrader; and special friend, Larry Colisino.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be made in Shack’s memory to the American Heart Association, WV Region, 162 Court St., Charleston, WV 25301 or to the American Diabetes Association, PO Box 15829, Arlington, VA 22215.

The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Wednesday, November 28, 2018, from 1 p.m. until 8 p.m. In accordance with Shack’s wishes, his body will be cremated following the visiting hours.
