Obituary of Allen W. Fox

Allen W. Fox, 92, of Fairmont, WV, went to be with the Lord on December 1, 2018, with his daughters at his side.  He was born April 21, 1926 in Fairview, WV, son of the late Claude and Eva Schlotter Fox.     He married Betty Davis, daughter of the late Bill and Sylvia Davis, November 1, 1946.  They had 31 years of marriage till Betty’s death in 1977.  Allen joined the U.S. Navy and against his wishes was released on a medical necessity discharge due to asthma.  He spoke of different jobs until starting work and retiring from Owens Illinois Glass Plant after 20 years of service with decorating department.  In earlier years he enjoyed spending time at Green Lakes with his family, fishing with Betty, hunting with his father-in-law, gardening and walking the fort trail with his sister-in-law Lucile and good friend Wayman.  He insisted on bringing the mail to his neighbors on Lemon Lane and found it hard to accept when he could no longer do this.  Allen loved animals and always had a dog by his side, in the car, wherever he was.  Survivors include three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Roger Moore of Fairmont, WV, Nancy and Arty Timmins of Fairmont, WV, and Cathy and Mark Ash of Fairmont, WV,   9 grandchildren, Roger Moore, Michael and Heather Moore, Stacy and Donny Crum, Lisa and Joe Parilak, Danny Timmins, Shari and Shawn Sanders, Erin and Patrick Smith, Jennifer and John Tittle, and Mark and Tori Ash, Jr.,   15 great grandchildren, Jordan, Jeremy, Chase, and Seth Moore, Abreonna and Adalynn Parilak, Chloie Timmins, Shawnae and Sharidan Sanders, Patrick and Liam Smith, Carson, Ashlynn, and Colin Tittle, and Reed Alan Ash, 1 great great grandchild, Mayda.  He was preceded in death by a brother, Irvin Fox, two sisters, Barbara Craft and Faye Henderson, and an infant brother, Donald.  Family and friends may call at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV from 5pm until 8pm on Tuesday and 11am until 1pm on Wednesday.   Funeral services will be held in the funeral home Wednesday afternoon, 12-5-2018, at 1pm, with Pastor Glenn Stevenson officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt Zion Cemetery and Mausoleum in Fairmont, WV.
