Obituary of David Francis Engel
David Engel, 68, Bridgeport, passed away suddenly at West Virginia University Hospitals, Ruby Memorial on January 15, 2019. He was born in Charleston, West Virginia, on May, 30, 1950, to Marie Louise Meyer and John H. Engel, who preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by his beloved dog, Flash, in 1986.
Dave is survived by his wife of 29 years, Jane Engel, two step daughters, Julie Fulks, and her husband, Paul and Ann Auvil, their four children, Rachel and Caroline Fulks and Savannah and Charlie Preston to whom he was known as "Day Day". Also surviving is his brother, Jack Engel, Myrtle Beach, S.C., two sisters, Linda Engel, Fredericksburg, Va., Jan Pitzer, St. Simon, Ga. a very special uncle, Don Engel, Texas, and two cats named Daisy and Pearl.
Dave graduated in 1968 from Bridgeport High School and attended West Virginia University. He has worked many years as a machinist and was presently employed at Swanson Machinery, Morgantown, for the past 14 years as a master machinist. He was very well read with an innate intelligence and could discuss any subject. Working with his hands and fixing anything that could possibly be fixed was his true talent. Dave was a good friend and loved very much by his family. He will be sorely missed by all who knew him.
