Obituary of Frances Lorene Amos
Frances Lorene Amos, 88, of Monumental, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at the John Manchin Sr. Assisted Living in Farmington. She was born June 8, 1930 in Fairmont, a daughter of the late James W. and Freda Kerns Lang. She was preceded in death by her husband Albert C. Amos on November 9, 2011.
Fran was a 1947 graduate of East Fairmont High School. She was a longtime member of Monumental United Methodist Church where she was very active throughout her life and taught Bible studies and served as worship leader. Along with her husband, she was the co-founder of the Amos Mechanical Services where she was the office manager for most of her life. She was also a real estate agent and was one of the first female agents in Marion County.
Fran was a well-respected dog owner and breeder in the area. She was a breeder of both English Mastiff and Chinese Shar Pei breeds which were given homes all over the United States. She was very active in her high school reunion planning committee. Fran was drawn towards the mission field. She and her husband participated with Help International Ministries which led them in construction-based missions all over, including, Mexico, Great Britain, Portugal, and Cyprus. They also followed the destruction of Hurricane Andrew and assisted with the rebuilding of communities of the South. She authored and published a book entitled “Wilderness Trail” which depicts her personal trials and her faith walk throughout her missionary service.
She is survived by her three daughters, Janice Amos and her husband David Schoewe of Brighton, Michigan, Faith and her husband Mark Bolyard of Barrackville, and Holly Amos of Fairmont, her daughter-in-law, Jenny Amos of Canton, Michigan, her grandchildren, Andrew and his wife Brittney Bolyard of Louisville, KY, Matthew and his wife Tracy Bolyard of Graham NC, Daniel and his wife Mindy Amos of Plymouth, MI, and Sarah Amos of Scottsdale, AZ, as well as her great grandchildren, Jack, Josh, Noah, and Sam Bolyard of Louisville, KY, Logan and Ashton Bolyard of Graham, NC, and James and Evelyn Amos of Plymouth, MI. She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Helen Tennant of Fairmont as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Jeff Amos in 2007, as well as her brother Eugene Lang.
The family would like to thank Fairmont Regional Medical Center, Encompass (HealthSouth) at UHC, and Amedysis Hospice. They would like to give a special thank you to the staff of the John Manchin Sr. Assisted Living in Farmington, WV for the love and devotion they have given Fran over the last two years.

Friends and family may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont on Friday, March 29, 2019 from 2PM until 8PM. Mrs. Amos will lie in state on Saturday, March 30, 2019 at the Monumental United Methodist Church from 10 AM until 11AM. The funeral will be held in the church on Saturday at 11AM with Reverend Stephanie Bennett officiating. Interment will follow at the Monumental Cemetery.
