Obituary of George Julius Kocsis
George Julius Kocsis, 82, of Fairmont, ended his journey on Earth on April 8, 2019 at Ruby Memorial Hospital with his loving wife Nancy and daughter Jenny at his side. He was born January 24, 1937 on Chestnut Street in the Barrackville, West Virginia mining camp, a son of the late Julius George and Elizabeth Jean Fulayter Kocsis.
George graduated in 1955 from Barrackville High School where he participated in a variety of sports, but was most fond of being a member of the Bison football team. He was employed at the Owens Illinois glass factory in Fairmont where he worked as a bottle maker/machinist and in the corrugating department. After the closing of “Owens”, he was employed at Sterling Fawcett in Sabraton until his retirement. His hobbies included fishing, hunting, following sports, especially football, supporting the WVU Mountaineers, celebrating his Hungarian heritage, and being an avid West Virginia lottery contributor. Most of all, he loved his family unconditionally.
George is survived by his wife Nancy whom he was married for 57 years. He is survived by his three children; Jenny and her husband Chuck Reese, Aaron Kocsis, and Randall and his wife Janette Kocsis. Additionally, he is survived by his four grandchildren, Elizabeth and Rebecca Kocsis, and Carrington and Atticus Reese, his aunt Sylvia Fulayter, and his cousins Patricia Fulayter Logan, Dr. Beverly Fulayter Baird Boothe, Dr. Lorraine Foster Byrd, Kathy Hursey, Janet Fulayter, Joe Bill Doby and their families. He was loved and supported by his neighbors on Fox Hill Lane and numerous friends. George’s family sincerely thanks all who provided him with care and rehabilitation during his recent health challenges.
