Obituary of Donnie Joe Rundle
Donnie Joe Rundle, 75, of Bunner Ridge Community passed away on Monday, May 20, 2019, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown. Donnie was born in Fairmont on April 26, 1944, a son of the late Robert John Rundle and Helen Goll Rundle.
Donnie is survived by his loving wife, Nancy Suzanne Huey Rundle of Bunner Ridge Community; two sons, Donald Joseph “D.J.” Rundle and his wife Kimberly of Bunner Ridge Community and Erik Dwayne Rundle of Bunner Ridge Community; two daughters, Regina Lea Starn and her husband Steven “Tank” of Greenville, SC and Cynthia Dawn Mauch and her husband Joseph of San Francisco, CA; seven grandchildren, Cassandra Tarr, Gabrielle Rundle, Avery Rundle, Matthew Barrick, Sadie Rundle, Sveva Mauch, and Gemma Mauch; his first great grandchild, Jaxton Tarr will arrive in September 2019; two brothers, Thomas Rundle and his wife Peggy of Bunner Ridge Community and Antonio Rundle and his wife Marlene of Bunner Ridge Community; and three sisters, Mary Ann Dolinar of Morgantown, Carolyn Jean Hayhurst and her husband Tom of Hartford, CT, and Darlene Trippett and her husband Gary of White Hall, and his sister-in-law Eloise Rundle of Fairmont, as well as several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Donnie was preceded in death by a brother, John Robert “Bosco” Rundle; and a brother-in-law, John Dolinar.
Donnie was a 1962 graduate of Morgantown High School and a veteran with the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in the Artillery Division. He was a member of the Immaculate Conception Church in Fairmont as well as a member of the Knights of Columbus #942 of Fairmont. Donnie was the owner and founder of D.J.’s Diner in Fairmont. He retired in 1998 with over 30 years of service as a Nuclear Medicine Technician with the Louis A. Johnson VA Medical Center. He was an original member of the Big Boy’s Toys Car Club. He was an avid vintage car enthusiast and owned many classic and antique cars. Donnie was an outdoorsman and enjoyed golfing, fishing and hunting. He especially loved wintering in Stuart, FL with his wife. He lived a wonderful and fulfilling life, he especially loved being with his family and grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Donnie’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High St., Morgantown, WV 26501.
The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Thursday, May 23, 2019, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. The Catholic Funeral Liturgy will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 329 Maryland Ave., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Friday, May 24, 2019, at 12 Noon with Father Joe Konikattil as celebrant. Interment will follow at the Rundle Family Cemetery in Bunner Ridge Community. Full military funeral honors will be conducted at graveside by the Marion County Veteran’s Council.
