Obituary of Karen Ann Barnes

Karen Ann Barnes, 78, of Fairmont, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2019 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV.  She was born May 15, 1941 in Fairmont a daughter of the late Walter T. Gillett and Bonnie Freeland Murray.  She was preceded in death by her husband Thomas Howard Barnes.

Karen was a Lutheran by faith.  She was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School and retired as the office manager for Gillette Repair Service in Fairmont.

Karen is survived by her daughters, Stephanie and her husband Thomas Smith of Columbia, SC, Tomma K. Barnes of Beaufort, NC, and Amy L. and her husband Rodney Lambert of Locust Grove, GA, and her grandchildren, Andrew Smith, Jamie Wilson, Sydney Lambert, and Bailey Lambert.  She is also survived by her brothers, Gene Gillett of Fairmont, Charles and his wife Ann Gillett of Virginia, Robert and his wife Connie Gillett of Fairmont, Richard and his wife Sherry Gillett of Fairmont, and Jack and his wife Linda Gillett of Fairmont, as well as several nieces and nephews, and her loving dog “Gracie”.

Memorial donations may be made to the WVU Medicine Hospice, 327 Medical Park Drive, Bridgeport, WV 26330.

As per Karen’s wishes, the family has chosen cremation services.  Friends and family may visit the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, on Friday August 2, 2019 from 1PM until 3PM.  A Memorial Service will be held in the funeral home on Friday, August 2, 2019 at 3PM with Pastor Rex Musgrove officiating.  Private committal services will take place at a later date.  Online condolences may be made to www.fordfuneralhomes.com.
