Obituary of Elna Alverta Saas

     Elna “Peggy” Alverta Saas, 91, of Bridgeport, W.V., passed away on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at the United Hospital Center in Bridgeport.  She was born May 29, 1928 in Clarksburg, WV a daughter of the late Clarence B. and Lura Virginia Carder Stewart.  She was preceded in death by her husband Louis Phillip Saas in 1999.

     Mrs. Saas was a member of the Johnson Avenue United Methodist Church in Bridgeport.  Peggy was a homemaker in her own home and had also owned and operated the City Restaurant in Bridgeport which had been passed down to her from her parents.  She had been a resident of Colonial Place in Elkins for the past four years.

     Mrs. Saas is survived by her sons, Louis “Phil” Phillip Saas Jr and his wife Donna of Walnut Hill, and Charles Joseph Saas and his wife Stella of Clarksburg, her daughter Karen Martin and her husband Dennis of Quiet Dell, her grandchildren, Aaron Saas, Charles Saas and his wife Brandy, Chad Saas and his wife Missi, and Laura Martin Pierce and her husband Scott, as well as her great grandchildren, Graham Saas, Liza Saas, Annaleigh Pierce, and Michael Pierce.  She is also survived by her sister Alma Deem of Clarksburg.  In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her grandson Dennis Michael Martin, and her brothers Elvin Stewart and James Stewart.

     Friends and family may visit at the Ford Funeral Home, Allen Chapel, 215 E. Main Street, Bridgeport on Tuesday from 4:00 PM - 8:00 PM and on Wednesday from 10:00 AM - 11:00 AM.  The funeral will be celebrated in the funeral home on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at 11:00 AM with Reverend Dr. Ken A.
