Obituary of Charles "Wayne" Dodd

Charles “Wayne” Dodd, 75, of Fairmont passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020, at United Hospital Center. Wayne was born in Fairmont on August 5, 1944, the son of the late Charles Howard Dodd and Rosalie Delores Oliverio Dodd. Wayne is survived by his loving wife Barbara Lee Arnett Dodd; two sons, Christopher Wayne Dodd and his wife Jane Renee of Beckley and Jason Bond “Duke” Dodd of Fairmont; two grandchildren, Anthony Charles Dodd and Andrew Christopher Dodd; his sister Faye Anita Dodd of Fairmont; special friend, Charles Thomas Spiker of Clarksburg; his beloved dog, Buddy; and several cousins, nieces, and nephews. Wayne was a 1962 graduate of East Fairmont High School and served in the US Navy during the Vietnam War. He worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Fairmont General Hospital for over 25 years and was a former Disc Jockey for WTCS Radio. Wayne was a proud member of the Fairmont Lions Club where he aided many people in obtaining glasses. Wayne was also a member and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America. The family requests memorial contributions be made in Wayne’s memory to the American Cancer Society, 122 South High St., Morgantown, WV 26501, or to the Fairmont Lions Club, PO Box 1164, Fairmont, WV 26555. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Monday, January 27, 2020, from 2 p.m. until 8 p.m. and on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Tuesday, January 28, 2020, at 11 a.m. with Pastor Kevin Nuzum officiating. A committal service will take place at the West Virginia National Cemetery where full military rites will be conducted by the Marion County Veteran’s Counsel.
