Obituary of Waneta Lou Thompson Yost
With profound sadness we announce the passing of Waneta Lou Thompson Yost, our loving mother, grandmother, and friend to all those whose lives she touched, on Saturday, January 25, 2020. She left us while sleeping at her residence in Fairmont, WV surrounded by her family. She was in her 91st year of life. Waneta was born June 22, 1928 in Fairmont, WV a daughter of the late Grant Thompson and Stachie Alkire Thompson. She was preceded in death by her husband Charles Lee Yost on April 29, 2010.
Waneta is survived by her son, Charles “Bucky” Yost of Enterprise; two daughters, Janice Morgan (Larry) and Donna Laird (Bill), both of Fairmont; nine grandchildren, Steve Morgan (Cindy), Tonya Morgan, Rocky Morgan (Patty), Jeremy Laird (Karrie), Amanda Pase (Carl), Melissa Clelland (Jared), Kenny Mick (Kim), Sherry Cummings (Chad), and Donnie Yost (Nacole); 23 great grandchildren; eight great-great grandchildren; a brother, Bobby Thompson (Janice); and her beloved dog, Lilly.
In addition to her husband and parents, Waneta was preceded in death by a daughter, Cathy Diane Yost; a grandson, Larry Allen Morgan; a great-great grandson, Hunter Allen Jackson; three brothers, George Thompson, Raymond Thompson, and Oran Thompson; her sister, Ivy Boscka; and a daughter-in-law, Donna Lee Yost.
Mrs. Yost was a loving homemaker and a member and cofounder of Bingamon Chapel Union Mission Church. She loved life and was very passionate about her family and loved them all dearly.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Waneta’s memory to Amedisys Hospice, 67 Casino Dr. #102, Anmoore, WV 26323.
The family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, R.C. Jones Funeral Home, 1410 Country Club Road, Fairmont, WV 26554 on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 from 1-8 p.m. and on Wednesday, January 29, 2020 from 10-11 a.m. The funeral service will be held in the funeral home on Wednesday, at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Steve Morgan officiating.
