Obituary of Rebecca "Becky" Drummond Ellison
Rebecca “Becky” Drummond Ellison, 68, of Montgomery, Alabama, passed away at her home on Friday, February 26, 2016.
She was born in Fairmont on April 10, 1947, the daughter of the late Robert M. Drummond and Mary Virginia Haddox Drummond.
Becky graduated from East Fairmont High School in 1965 where she proudly served as a majorette for the East Fairmont Band. After graduating from West Virginia Business College, she worked for Monongahela Power Company for several years before moving to Montgomery.
Becky never met a stranger and enjoyed traveling and visiting almost every state. Her other hobbies included reading and watching West Virginia and Alabama football . . . GO ‘EERS and ROLL TIDE!
Survivors include her son, Kevin Vincent (Meghan) of San Antonio, Texas, and daughter Marni Chetwood (Holt) of Columbia, South Carolina. Also surviving is her brother, Bob Drummond of Fairmont. Becky was affectionately known as “Mamaw” by her grandchildren, Dylan and Riley Vincent, and Emerson, Annie, Jack and Locke Chetwood. Becky will also be sadly missed by a special niece and nephew, Megan Drummond Haymond and Matt Drummond, and their children Brody and Dakota Haymond and Taylor Drummond.
Also surviving are numerous cousins, aunts and friends.
Becky followed in her Mother’s footsteps and very unselfishly donated her body to the University of South Alabama Medical School through the Human Gift Registry.
A Memorial Service to celebrate her life will be held Friday, March 18, at 6:00 PM at the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel , 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV 26554. Visitation for family and friends will be held prior to the service from 4:00 to 6:00 PM.
