Obituary of Lawrence Howard Hamilton

Mr. Lawrence “Larry” Howard Hamilton, 75 years of age of Fairmont, WV passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Monongalia General Hospital, Morgantown, WV. He was born August 7, 1944, the son of the late Arthur and Lenitta Phares Hamilton. He was preceded in death by his first wife Wonda Beale Hamilton in 2007. He is survived by his wife Nancy Moran Hamilton; two daughters Christine Weis and her husband Tim of Arthurdale, WV and Stephanie Skarzinski of Fairmont, WV; two sons Tim Slaughter and his wife Cathy of Morgantown, WV and Randy Slaughter and his wife Debra of Trabuca Canyon, CA; one brother Paul Hamilton and his wife Sue Ann of Craigsville, WV; one sister Mary Frances Wiblin of Ashland, VA; nine grandchildren and eight great grandchildren. He was also preceded in death by two brothers Charles and Glenn Hamilton; one sister Rebecca Given and one grandson Devan Pourbaix. Larry graduated from Cowen High School and later attended West Virginia Tech. He was employed with Mon Power for many years as a dispatcher. He was an active member of Fairmont Elks Lodge B.P.O.E. 294 and was a past Exalted Ruler. His smile and energy will be missed with his Elks family. He was also a member of Life United Methodist Church in Fairmont. We appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Should you be able to celebrate his life, the family will receive friends at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Thursday from 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM. Fairmont Elks Lodge will provide ritualistic services in the funeral home at 7:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in the funeral home on Friday, June 5, 2020 at 10:00 AM with Reverend Larry Buckland presiding. A private interment will be held at a later date.
