Obituary of Sally Meredith Hall Longmire

Sally Ann Meredith Hall Longmire, of Old Town, Florida passed away on June 6, 2020 at her residence. She was born August 23, 1934 in Fairmont, WV to the late William Alan McLane and the late Margaret Virginia Parks McLane Ewing. Sally was a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Fairmont. She was a 1952 graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, a 1956 graduate of West Virginia University, as well as 1958 graduate of The Ohio State University with a concentration in the studies of education and home economics. She assisted her husband Dr. Meredith as a veterinarian assistant in his practice. Sally was a teacher in the Marion County School system and later continued with substitute teaching. She was a member of the Junior League of Fairmont, had served as a Cub Scout den mother. Sally was a very social person, she loved arranging and cooking for family dinners and gatherings. Sally loved to travel, she had enjoyed many trips which included The Holy Land, London, Hawaii, and New Orleans. She spent much time in Florida in the Jensen Beach and Stuart areas. She decided to spend her retirement years in Old Town, Dixie County, FL. Sally was involved in numerous business ventures while married to John Hall. While living in Old Town she worked with Walgreen’s, sold real estate, and participated in political fundraising. She is survived by her sons, Leavitt Carr “Cy” Meredith, Jr. of Fairmont, and Charles Harper and his wife Connie Meredith of Fairmont, her daughters, Anne Louise Meredith of Craigsville, WV, and Mary Beth and her husband Buddy Atwell of Fairmont. She is also survived by one grandson, two granddaughters, one great granddaughter, her brothers, William and his wife Barbara McLane of Clayton, NC, and Mark and his wife Laura McLane of Morgantown, WV, as well as several nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Leavitt Carr Meredith, Alma John Hall, and John Longmire, as well as her sister Carolyn McLane Ridgeway. Her family would like to give special recognition for her caretaker and friend, Gail Hurst in Old Town, Florida. We appreciate in the unknown time with the COVID-19 pandemic that attending a visitation may not be in your best interest. Please be with the family in prayer. Should you be able to celebrate her life, the family will receive visitors at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont on Monday, June 15, 2020 from 11AM until 1PM Funeral will be held at 1PM in the funeral home with Reverend D.D.
