Obituary of Gene Malcolm Stevens
Gene Malcolm Stevens, 82, of Idamay, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 4, 2020 at his residence surrounded by his family. He was born September 13, 1938 in Morgantown, WV a son of the late Walter and Naomi Tichnor Stevens. He was preceded in death by his wife, Louise Shields Stevens.
Gene was a member of the White Hall Church of Christ. He was a veteran with the United States Navy. He retired as a mechanic from the C.R.H. Catering Company in Fairmont. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather who will be greatly missed by his family.
He is survived by his sons, Russell and his wife Vicki Shields, of Washington, PA, Charles Stevens of Baxter, WV, and John Stevens of Idamay, WV, his brother, David Lynn and his wife Cheryl Stevens of Morgantown, his sister, Cindy and her husband John Carpenter, of Texas. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Charles Shields, Brandi Staley, Michael Stevens, Tara Butler, Eric Stevens, Kayla Rossi, Charlea Rowan, Kristen Lea Stevens, Jacob Stevens, and Justin Stevens, as well as 14 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his son Gene Malcolm Stevens, brothers Walter Stevens, and Michael Stevens, his sister India Rose Phares
The family has entrusted care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV. Due to the current uncertainty with the COVID-19 pandemic, the family has chosen to hold all funeral services privately with Evangelist Kevin Lough officiating. Private interment will be held at the Arnettsville Cemetery in Arnettsville, WV at a later date.
