The Weifords lived a block from the Jetts on Tenth Avenue when I was growing up. My dad, Walter Jett, who was the county agricultural agent in Pocahontas county, and Betty Rae worked closely together in extension service and shared offices in a building behind the court house. Many a summer day I would roller skate to The Office to visit and was always welcomed by Betty Rae when I swung by her desk after checking in with my dad. I also knew her from the years she did so much for the 4-H program and the 4-Hers. I recall her patiently helping me complete my project books, a task in which I had no interest. After I moved to Charleston many years later to practice law, I would often encounter Betty Rae and Arnold on their exercise walks around the city. They always stopped to chat and catch up.
Your parents live on as part of my life’s memories, Jeff, including the memory of those ice cold cokes from the downstairs vending machine which were often the expressed purpose of my visits. Suzanne Jett Trowbridge.
