Obituary of Robert Marvin Morris
Robert Marvin Morris, 70, of Fairmont, passed away on Monday, November 13, 2017, at Fairmont Regional Medical Center. Robert was born on December 31, 1946, a son of the late Marvin Morris Jr. and Marion McCown Morris. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Gibson Morris.
Robert was a graduate of Fairmont Senior High School, Fairmont State College and WVU, where he earned his law degree. He retired on June 1, 2017 after serving as Lewis County Assistant Prosecutor for 20 years in the area of abuse and neglect and juvenile law. He had previously served in the U.S. Air Force in Thailand and Vietnam. While in college, Robert worked at WTCS and WCLG as announcer and News Director.
In addition to his wife, Robert is survived by two brothers, David Morris of Fairmont, WV and Brett Morris (Tina) of Kettering, OH; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Bill Gibson (Nancy) of Brownsville, TX, Cam Gibson (Joanna) of Milwaukie, OR, Eddie Gibson (Theresa) of Webster Springs, WV, and Kathy Gibson of Lorain, OH; nieces and nephews, Neely Morris Brown (Ryan) of Bellevue, WA, Ryan Morris (Kristin) of Atlanta, GA, Brett Morris of Kettering, OH, Brandon Gibson (Leslie) of Cowen, WV, Brittany Gibson of Webster Springs, WV, Dwayne Gibson (Sandy) of Canton, OH, Pam Slicker (Jason) of Massilon, OH, Karen Nelson (Jon) of Tuscon, AZ, Maria Gibson of San Antonio, TX, Brian Gibson (Ning) of Edwards AFB, CA, Siobhan Berry (Tim) of Colorado Springs, CO, Sean Gibson of San Antonio, TX, Michael Job (Chrissy) of Greenville, SC, Todd Gibson of Madison, OH, Madalena and Corrie Gibson of Milwaukie, OR; great nieces and nephews, Emerson, Adley and Caden Brown, Liam Robert Morris, Amanda Berry, Emily Gibson, Russell and Alex Gibson, Connor Gibson and Dakota Job.
In addition to his parents, Robert was preceded in death by two sisters-in-law, Melodie Fox Morris and Annette Gibson Job and three brothers-in-law, Junior L. Gibson, Paul Gibson and E. Joy Gibson.
In accordance with Robert’s wishes, his body has been cremated. The family will receive friends at Ford Funeral Home, Ford Chapel, 201 Columbia St., Fairmont, WV 26554, on Saturday, January 6, 2018, from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. A memorial service will be held in the funeral home on Saturday, January 6, 2018, at 11 a.m. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.FORDFUNERALHOMES.com.
