I knew Jenny as a student at PHS. It seems like just yesterday now, and I cannot imagine that Jenny was in her late 50s because I remember her as a teenager. I was shocked to read that she is no longer with us. I remember her as so young and healthy, always vibrant and involved, and I cannot imagine that anything could ever overcome such an abundant life and spirit.
I am not surprised to read that she grew into a lovely wife, mother, friend, and most of all, a loved and respected teacher. I am so proud of her for that. I am just sorry that her family has to suffer this incredible loss.
Find peace in knowing that she rests in God's hands surrounded by Angels, and that she is always watching over. And in that quiet moment that you think you feel her near, she is there . . .

A candle's such a simple thing
It starts with just a bit of string.
Yet dipped and dipped with patient hand
It gathers more wax upon the strand
Until completed and snowy white
It gives at last a lovely light.
Life seems so like that bit of string,
Each day we do a simple thing
Yet day by day as on life's strand
We work with patient heart and hand
It gathers joy, and makes days bright
And gives at last a lovely light.
Jenny was my student and a member of my French Club at PHS. I saw her occasionally at events in Petersburg throughout the years. Later she became my Order of the Eastern Star sister. She always made days bright and, yes, at last she gives a lovely light. She will be missed but remembered for her lovely spirit. Jo Ann Harman

To the Harney and Ours families and to those that loved Jenny,
Our heart hurts for your loss, there is not hurt like that of the loss of a loved one. However, due to the victory won for us on the Cross, you are separated from Jenny "but for a time". You will each be reunited with her according to your time. Rest assured she is missing each of you as well, but she is missing you in peace. I suspect she will be anxiously waiting your reunion and will have untold sights to show you and stories to tell, as you too claim your victory. "May the Lord bless you and keep you and cast His eyes upon you and give you His peace".

I couldn’t ask for a better teacher and person to know when my kids went to school at Jayenne. My son had fell off the monkey bars at school and busted his head open and she called and calmed me down than when we were at the hospital getting staples she showed up and stayed with us the whole time. I absolutely loved her and my son was so lucky to have her as a teacher. Thank you Mrs. Harney for everything you did for all the kids that was lucky enough to have you as a teacher. You will truly be missed. Prayers to your family!
