Obituary of Jenny Ours Harney
Jenny Ours Harney, 57, of Fairmont, passed away on Friday, October 18, 2019, at her residence surrounded by her family. She was born in Petersburg on October 22, 1961, daughter of the late Jack and Joann Harman Ours.
She is survived by her loving husband Courtney Morgan Harney Sr. They had celebrated thirty-seven years of marriage. She is also survived by her four children Brittany Moore and her husband Matthew of Fairmont, WV, Joann Harney of Fairmont, WV, C. Morgan Harney Jr. of Pittsburgh, PA and Margaret Harney of Fairmont; her pride and joy her three grandchildren Trenton, Lochlan and Tynlee Moore; a brother John Ours and his wife Cindy of Petersburg, WV; two sisters Jane Bensenhaver and her husband Dewey of Petersburg, WV and Judy Cooper and her husband Dave of Fairmont, WV; and several nieces and nephews. She was also preceded in death by a brother Jeff Ours.
Jenny graduated from Petersburg High School and then earned a bachelor of arts degree in education from Fairmont State College in 1982. She was a member of Alpha XI Delta Sorority at Fairmont State. She was an elementary teacher in Marion County and enjoyed her time at Barnes and Jayenne Elementary Schools. Her former students appreciated her guidance and love and they would greet her with praise. In 1985, she was recognized and received the Gold Congressional Award for Voluntary Community Service and Personal Excellence in Washington D.C.
She was a member of the Christ Episcopal Church. She was also a member of Order of the Eastern Star 146 in Petersburg. Those that knew Jenny understood her love of traveling and growing beautiful flowers.
Friends will be received at the Ford Funeral Home, 201 Columbia Street, Fairmont, WV on Wednesday from 2:00 PM – 4:00 PM and 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM. The funeral service will be celebrated in Christ Episcopal Church, 824 Fairmont Avenue, Fairmont, WV on Thursday, October 24, 2019 at noon with The Reverend Jordan Trumble presiding.
